CRS Phone Counselor 

Full time and Onsite

Schedule: Overnight Shift

The Mental Health Phone Counselor is responsible for providing phone support and resources to clients who call the “Warmline”. Primarily the support results in linkage to mental health services that are provided daily (24 hours).  

The Phone Counselor receives all incoming telephone calls, elicits essential information from caller, and determines the immediacy and type of response needed. Phone Counselors are responsible for documenting both incoming and outgoing phone calls, as well as documenting resources and any authorizations given in an effort to help callers obtain services. 

Phone Counselors assist clients, identified as at risk for hospitalization, in obtaining urgent care appointments and arranging transportation, if needed.

Key Responsibilities
•    Answers the phone, offering support while providing active listening and appropriate responses 
•    Provides linkage resources and documents offered referrals 
•    Provides credible written summaries of phone calls
•    Assesses the need for intervention by the CIT or MCT and communicates with Teams to provide case summaries for dispatch purposes
•    Provides follow-up calls to determine client progress and needs
•    Communicates effectively with callers to diffuse crisis situations 
•    Obtains authorizations for needed client services
•    Provides support for clients and to OPS team members through case debriefings with Team
•    Completes all required trainings on or before due date
•    Performs other duties as assigned
•    
Qualifications
•    Master’s Degree with license in Social Work, Psychology or related field and a minimum of three (3) years related experience 
•    LCPC or LCSW-C preferred
•    Knowledge of local and county resources, preferred 
•    Knowledge of Medicaid, Social Security and other entitlements, preferred
•    Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting 
•    Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with clients and other members of a care team
•    Excellent interpersonal skills required 
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills required 
•    Fluency in Spanish and English, a plus

Salary: $79, 277.45 - $97,145.98 

Salary is commensurate with education, credentials and experience

Mobile Crisis Supervisor (Evening Shift)

Fulltime and Onsite

This position is located within the Crisis Response System (CRS) of the Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency, Inc. (Agency).  Reporting to the Crisis Response System Director, this position provides clinical and administrative oversight of the Mobile Crisis Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality crisis intervention, stabilization, case management, and community-based behavioral health services. 

The supervisor collaborates closely with clinicians, law enforcement, hospitals, and community partners to support individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or emotional crises.
 

Key Responsibilities
•    Serves as Mobile Crisis Supervisor to Mobile Crisis Team
•    Assists in the day-to-day supervision and scheduling of Mobile Crisis Team
•    Provides primary oversight to full time staff and secondary oversight to part-time, weekend, and CPT staff.
•    Provides monthly schedule of Mobile Crisis Team and Rotating Weekend Coverage and assists with facilitating coverage as needed
•    Participates in rotating weekend on-call coverage for staff call outs
•     Reviews Credible assessments written by Mobile Crisis Team staff and provides ongoing feedback to staff and to Program Manager
•    Monitors and evaluates follow-up plan and follow through actions by MCT Team
•    Creates ongoing documents and protocols for peer in the field performance evaluations and identifies strengths and training opportunities
•    Provides ongoing feedback to Mobile Crisis Manager about employee concerns, issues, and performance
•    Maintains an up to date resource guide to help assist with referrals and assist with the Network of Care
•    Assists with creating documents for formal interview process of perspective new hires for Mobile Crisis Team and serves as a member of the interviewing team
•    Assists with creating documents and protocols for new hire training for Mobile Crisis Team
•    Assists with completing semi-annual reviews for Mobile Crisis Team
•    Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications
•    Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling Psychology 
•    Independent License required (LCSW-C or LCPC)
•    Minimum two (2) years related experience 
•    Extensive knowledge of public and private mental health providers and community resources 
•    Knowledge of acute medical, psychiatric and substance use symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments
•    Strong assessment, counseling, diagnostic, de-escalation, and crisis planning skills 
•    Experience in risk assessment and safety planning
•    Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
•    Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with clients and others 
•    Excellent interpersonal skills required
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary: $102,210.68 - $117,261.73

FULL TIME, PART TIME, AND CONTINGENT PART TIME

This position is located within the Operations Center (OPS) and "Warmline" of the Crisis Response System of the Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency, Inc (Agency).

The position reports directly to the OPS Supervisor and interacts regularly with the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), Mobile Crisis Team (MCT), Safe Stations Team (SS) Care Coordinators (CC) and Hospital Diversion (HD).

The Mental Health Phone Counselor is responsible for providing phone support and resources to clients who call the Warmline.  Primarily the support results in linkage to mental health services that are provided daily (24 hours).  The Phone Counselor receives all incoming calls, elicits essential information from caller, and determines the immediacy and type of response needed.

Phone Counselors assist clients identified as at-risk for hospitalization in obtaining urgent care appointments and arranging transportation if needed.  The Phone Counselor also assesses for suicidal ideations and creates safety plans when applicable.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or minimum of three (3) years related experience
  • Knowledge of local and county resources preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Social Security and other entitlements preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish and English a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
  • Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with clients and other members of a care team

Salary $41,849.60 - $65,600.29 depending on experience, education, credentials and shift.
