In-Person Presentation: The Athletic Mind-Navigating the Mental Health Needs of Student Athletes

Arundel Lodge will be hosting The Athletic Mind: Navigating the Unique Mental Health Needs of Student Athletes.

When a student athlete sprains an ankle during a game, it's immediately assessed and they are sent to get evaluation and treatment. The same can't be said for their mental health. A survey taken during a recent study showed that 91% of student athletes experience stress due to sports. Approximately 78% of students who expressed experiencing moderate to extreme stress did not receive help. Reasons for not seeking help, despite wanting it, included being unsure of where to go, fear of judgement from others, lack of access, financial difficulties, and being embarrassed.

This event is for high school athletes, their parents/guardians, and coaches. Featuring a lineup of speakers and a Q&A portion, this event will focus on the importance of mental health care in student athletes, how to seek care, and destigmatizing the need for care.

This event is free and open to the public.
