Social determinants are risk and protective factors that influence mental health outcomes based on people’s living situations. Standardized tools for mental health assessment exhibit considerable inconsistency in appraising social and environmental factors.

Objectives:
1. Describe the impact of social determinants on mental health
2. Identify assessment strategies for key social determinants
3. Practice assessing social determinants in a case scenario
4. Apply social prescribing and targeted advocacy to mental health service delivery
