As coaching gains popularity in personal and professional development, many are left wondering how it differs from clinical social work. This panel discussion will bring together Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs), Social Workers, and Professional Coaches to clarify these distinctions.
Panelists will explore ethical boundaries, credentialing requirements, and the implications of coaching’s rise on traditional mental health services. Participants will gain a clear understanding of when to refer, how to collaborate across disciplines, and how to navigate this evolving landscape.
Objectives:
Differentiate between the scope of practice, ethical considerations, and competencies of coaching and clinical social work.
Evaluate the regulatory and credentialing differences between licensed mental health professionals and professional coaches.
Identify appropriate referrals and collaboration opportunities between coaches and social workers.
Discuss the implications of coaching’s rise on the future of social work practice and behavioral health services
