This workshop is designed to explore the unique challenges and risks associated with intimate partner violence (IPV) within military and veteran families. The instructor will delve into the prevalence of IPV in this community, examine the contributing factors, and assess the profound impact on family dynamics. Participants will engage with real-life case studies, and evidence-based practices to better understand and address IPV in military settings. The session will also cover available resources, support systems, and strategies for prevention and intervention.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the Unique Stressors and Risk Factors related to military life and how these factors contribute to the prevalence of IPV in military and veteran communities.
2. Describe the emotional, psychological, economic, and social impacts of IPV on family members.
3. Explore prevention, intervention, and support strategies to support IPV victims.
