Trauma is a universal concept that every human being endures at some point in their lives. Often, individuals sustain multiple traumas, and some become so pervasive and acute that they can develop into Big “T” traumas that can last for generations.
According to SAMSHA, in the US two-thirds of children report experiencing at least one traumatic event by age 16. These traumas often have long-lasting effects and can manifest into adulthood trauma, which can affect various domains of functioning. There is a clear and distinct correlation between childhood trauma and later manifestations of adult trauma. Some of the most prevalent are substance abuse issues, mental health disorders, and attachment and intimacy issues, to name a few.
This workshop will explore the various ways in which childhood trauma (clinical, physical, emotional, and psychological) presents in adulthood. Participants will learn how to access childhood trauma and how to comprehensively gather a trauma narrative.
This is an interactive workshop with case vignettes, and participants will work in a group setting.
