Education, knowledge, and training in graduate programs and law and ethics seminars every license cycle inform the therapist of the “what” of legal and ethical boundaries and violations, including around confidentiality, but do not necessarily address the client and therapist “how” and “whys” of how a therapist comes to make errors anyway. Nor do seminars delineating (usually repetitively) boundaries and requirements address how clients and others prompt and tempt confidentiality (and other legal and ethical transgressions).
This webinar starts with confidentiality requirements, identifies underlying principles, AND therapist vulnerabilities, client seductions, and other dynamics that can cause errors that risk legal or ethical sanctions and client harm.
