The Deaf community experiences unique challenges regarding mental health and suicide prevention. Communication barriers, social isolation, discrimination, and limited access to culturally competent care contribute to increased mental health risks. This webinar will provide an overview of suicide prevention tailored to the needs of Deaf individuals, with a special focus on marginalized groups such as Black Deaf individuals.
Learning Objectives
1. Understand the prevalence and risk factors of suicide in the Deaf community, including unique challenges faced by Black Deaf individuals.
2. Identify cultural and linguistic barriers that impact suicide prevention efforts and access to mental health care.
