6 Ethics CEs
Amid administrative changes, firings, program collapses, and policy shifts, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain continuity of care as the social work field shifts. As social work becomes more of an administrative talking point, we need to solidify our practice to stay stable and plant our feet on ethical ground.
This workshop will provide the tools to examine our own prospective on ethics and values so we can continue to make honorable decisions so everyone can thrive. As attendees recognize the emotional load when an enforced perspective or policy gets in the way of ethical implementation, attendees will learn to use what is challenging in our work as strategic strength to help us and the communities we serve.
This workshop was created to deepen the practitioner’s understanding of how their own identities and cultural underpinnings shape their work, especially when it conflicts with their organization's mission or values. In reflection of examining cultural humility, the unpacking of the participant’s implicit bias is crucial not only to the ethical expectations of the social work profession but also allows the participant to gauge what they need to handle difficult feelings, conversations, and the possible presence of harm.
Join Dr. Thomas in developing a solid understanding of how using the framework of intersectionality can impact the ethical concepts of social work and in identifying ways to apply practical, thought-provoking clinical tools to explore, validate, and transform deep-seated inequities that affect us all.
The participant will walk away with a guided walkthrough to build a custom intra-inclusive framework to help guide themselves in practice and increase institutional stability during times that call for flexibility and, at times, challenge our ethics.
Audience: Social Workers, LCPCs, and Psychologists, anyone interested in the subject matter
This workshop is structured for those in not only direct service but also organizational and administrative positions, where ethical decisions can carry greater systemic weight.
