In this session, participants will learn about trends in financial exploitation of older adults in the United States. The session will explore research- and practice-informed core issues involving financial exploitation perpetrated by both strangers and known individuals/entities.
Participants will learn about steps that can be taken to prevent financial exploitation of older adults, as well as ways of supporting older adults and their loved ones who have been targets of frauds, scams, or other forms of financial abuse or exploitation.
Participants should be prepared to actively participate in this session and discuss the role of social workers in preventing and responding to issues of financial exploitation of older adults.
