This training meets the requirements for 3 CEs on anti-oppressive practices for social workers.

Join to learn how to best support our clients by better understanding the power and privilege we have as therapist. The goal of this training is to learn about the cultural proficiency continuum, the various aspects of one’s identity, as well as implicit biases and microaggression and how they play a role in our therapy practice as well as how we interact with clients. This training will also focus on how we as therapists can use our power and privilege for good in support our clients.

Learning objectives:


Defining privilege, power, cultural competency, and cultural humility
Differentiate between cultural proficiency and cultural humility
Analyze our areas of improvement related to cultural competency
Illustrate how therapist privilege impacts their role
Identify how therapist implicit bias impacts their work
Examine therapists’ privilege and power through interactive activities
Express how therapist power & privilege can impact work
Compare how different parts of therapists’ identity influence the therapy they provide
List tools to improve cultural humility and decrease implicit bias
