Maryland: This workshop is in compliance with the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners’ COMAR 10.42.03.06.A(5) and meets the license renewal requirement for Supervision for the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners’ COMAR 10.42.06.03.A.(1)(c).
Additionally, this workshop also meets the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners’ requirement for Board-Approved Supervisors to complete 12 credit hours of continuing education in social work supervision (COMAR 10.42.08.04).
Overwhelmingly, the research shows that supervisors have an essential role in achieving effective client outcomes and workforce development. This workshop will identify and explore the components of effective clinical supervision. Content will include the basic functions, role, responsibilities, and standards of supervision, with emphasis on the legal and regulatory language that describe these concepts.
Other topics covered include: developing professional identity and critical thinking in supervisees, setting expectations, and effective communication. This workshop includes practice activities to apply to the covered content and examples of strategies for enhanced supervision.
