This workshop meets the 3-hour BSWE Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice content requirement COMAR 10.42.06.03 A.(1)(d) in Anti-Racism Practices and qualifies for 3 Category I continuing education units.
What does it truly mean to be an ally—and how can we embody that in our work and everyday lives? This engaging and interactive session will explore the definition of allyship through the lens of mindset transformation.
Participants will examine internal biases, unpack the difference between intention and impact, and learn how to move beyond performative gestures to authentic, sustainable action. With a focus on self-awareness, humility, and accountability, this training offers practical steps for showing up as an ally in professional settings and personal relationships.
This course will equip participants with the tools and confidence to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities in ways that are both respectful and ethical.
Learning Objectives:
Define allyship including the distinction between performative and authentic allyship.
Identify common internal and systemic barriers that prevent effective allyship.
Develop a personalized action plan for practicing allyship.
