Join Dr. Liz Ressler, LCSWC for a 3-hour introductory training on Motivational Interviewing (MI). This is a client-centered, collaborative counseling approach designed to enhance an individual's motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence.
This training provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the principles and techniques of MI, including the foundational spirit of collaboration, evocation, and autonomy. Through interactive exercises, role-playing, and real-world examples, participants will learn to use open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summaries (OARS) to facilitate meaningful conversations that support behavior change.
This training also emphasizes the importance of recognizing and eliciting change talk while minimizing resistance by avoiding confrontational or directive approaches. By the end of the training, attendees will be equipped with tools to engage clients more effectively, build stronger therapeutic alliances, and support clients in making self-directed, lasting changes.
