This is a knowledge-based webinar designed for attendees to learn about the Maryland Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP). The LTCOP is a resource for residents in assisted living facilities and nursing homes, for health professionals and social workers who care for these residents, and for individuals in the community with a loved one in long-term care, or who are planning for long-term care.
The webinar will include a condensed summary of the LTCOP history and organizational culture, a multidimensional overview of what the ombudsman does and does not do, and an enlightening discussion designed to give participants a look into the complex role of an ombudsman on a daily basis, from complaint intake through final resolution. Time for Q/A is built into each presentation.
Learning Objectives:
Increase knowledge of the LTCOP as a vital resource for long-term care residents.
Clarify expectations on what an ombudsman can and cannot do.
Enhance understanding of collaborative efforts among the LTCOP, healthcare providers, social workers, and communities.
Prepare for future skill-building workshops using case studies to support resident empowerment and complaint resolution.
By attending this conference, Maryland Social Workers, Maryland Professional Counselors and Therapists, and ALL certified Dementia Practitioners and Certified Senior Advisors are eligible to earn 3 CEUs.
