Shivana Naidoo, MD., is a board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. She has worked mainly in outpatient clinical care for the past decade and currently works as a psychiatrist at the Bradley REACH Virtual PHP/IOP which provides exceptional care for high risk youth. Dr. Naidoo is the founder of DoBetterMD which aims to promote mental wellness and preventing mental crisis in youth. She is the creator of workshops for parents and consultations for pediatricians to support suicidal youth.
Learning Objectives
1) Participants will be able to review standard safety plans and compare and contrast them with the Survive and Thrive Safety plans.
2) Participants will learn how to incorporate Post Traumatic Growth Factors into their standard safety planning to create their own Survive and Thrive Safety Plan.
3) Participants will learn the risk mitigation acronym GO SECURE and how this can be incorporated into standard or adapted Safety Planning.
4) Participants will become aware of their own inner signs of distress that may emerge while engaging in safety planning and tools to successfully modulate their own reactions while engaging with high-risk clients.
5) Participants will learn unique factors to consider when completing a safety plan based on the clients' age and stage of life.
