A Message from Our Executive Director
October 2024
Since 1990, the first full week in October has been set aside in the U.S. as Mental Illness Awareness Week. This year's theme is My Mental Health at Work. In a national survey conducted early in 2024 for adults working full-time, 36% of respondents said their mental health had suffered because of work in the last year. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has developed a new initiative, StigmaFree Workplace, to provide employers with the tools and resources to help support employee's mental health in 3 areas: Awareness, Culture, and Access.
October 10th is World Mental Health Day. This year's focus is also on mental wellness and the workplace. The World Health Organization (WHO) has shared information about how our work environments can act as protective or risk factors for our mental wellbeing.
If you are in crisis and need help, our Warmline is open 24/7 at 410-768-5522.
