This session of the Trevor project's Ally training is sponsored by the Maryland Department of Health Office of Integrated Health and Wellness. It aims to build LGBTQ+ cultural competency and strengthen supportive environments for LGBTQ+ young people. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of terminology, the coming out process, and challenges LGBTQ+ youth may face across settings.
The session highlights how affirming environments and supportive adults reduce suicide risk and strengthen protective factors, while providing practical strategies to create safer, more inclusive spaces.
