In recognition of LGBTQ+ Pride Month and Autistic Pride Day, this conference will explore behavioral health considerations impacting LGBTQ+ Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF), as well as neurodiverse military-connected children and youth. Participants will gain insight into the unique mental health challenges, health disparities, and family-system factors affecting these populations, while learning evidence-informed strategies to support culturally responsive and inclusive care.
Conference Objectives:
1. Identify behavioral health risks and disparities impacting LGBTQ+ Service Members, Veterans, and their Families, including factors that may increase mental health vulnerabilities.
2 Examine the unique developmental, behavioral health, and family-system needs of neurodiverse military-connected children and youth, including those navigating autism and related challenges.
3. Apply evidence-based and culturally responsive clinical strategies to strengthen assessment, intervention, and support for LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse populations within military-connected families.
