Play Therapy in School and Community-Based Settings: Engaging Parents in Play Based Approaches is designed to provide therapists with practical, developmentally appropriate interventions that can be effectively used with children and families across a variety of nontraditional clinical environments.

This training draws from foundational play therapy approaches, including child-centered play therapy, as well as attachment- and family-based interventions such as Theraplay. Participants will explore how these evidence-based models can be thoughtfully adapted to meet the unique demands of school and community settings, where time, space, and systemic constraints are often present.

Throughout the program, participants will review core principles of play therapy and family therapy and examine ways to modify interventions so they remain clinically effective while being feasible in real-world settings. Many play therapy and expressive therapy trainings primarily focus on office-based work, while family therapy trainings often emphasize highly structured protocols that require extensive time and financial investment to master.

Although these modalities are valuable and important, many clinicians working in schools and community agencies lack the resources or capacity to engage in lengthy, multi-level training programs. This training aims to bridge that gap by offering accessible, adaptable strategies that therapists can immediately integrate into their current practice.
