Creating a safe space is not a one-time effort. As our communities, workplaces, schools, technology, and ways of connecting continue to evolve, maintaining supportive environments requires continued attention, adaptation, and commitment to ensuring people feel seen, supported, and able to reach out when they need help.

Sessions will explore resilience, workforce well-being, youth mental health and self-injury, technology and AI, lived experience, connection, and other emerging topics in suicide prevention.

This year’s conference will feature keynote speaker Dr. Robert Brooks, along with presentations from Dr. Jonathan DePierro, Dr. Emily Haroz, Dr. Janis Whitlock, The Defensive Line, and Dr. Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz.

This statewide conference generally attracts 400-500 stakeholders from Maryland’s public behavioral health community.  Attendees include administrators (state and local), program directors, behavioral health and substance use disorders providers, consumers, family members and various advocacy groups.
