Depression is quite common as people age, although it is not always explored or addressed. Due to multiple medical complications, numerous losses, change in lifestyle and financial constraints, many emotions can arise and the symptoms of depression can be more prevalent. In addition, our older clients are in the stage of ego integrity vs. despair and are experiencing a life review. Therefore, when working with older adults, a clinician may have to address experiences such as childhood traumas, difficult life events, and even both death and suicidal ideations.
This webinar will focus on depression in older adults, what this diagnosis can mean for your client, and how clinicians can assess and support an individual in the later stages of their life.
