This course meets the requirements for  HB 28: Public Health – Implicit Bias Training  and the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities.      

This workshop meets the requirement for Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice for Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners'  COMAR 10.42.06.03.A.(1)(d)  with a focus on implicit bias.

This session will explore the ways that our implicit and explicit biases affect how we navigate and interact with the world. Additionally, we will discuss how our bias can positively and negatively affect our interactions with clients.  

Participants will be asked to access Project Implicit and complete the following implicit association tests (IAT) in order to actively participate in the session: (1) Race IAT, (2) Skin-tone IAT, (3) Sexuality IAT, (4) Weight IAT, and (5) Disability IAT.    

Learning Objectives

Develop an understanding of the basic principles of dialogue and facilitation.  

Gain an increased understanding of their identity development and the development of others.  

Practice applying facilitation skills.  


Target Audience: Social Workers, LCPCs, and Psychologists, anyone interested in the topic.
