The symposium is designed to raise awareness to better address the issues of older adult mental health and substance use disorders and highlight resources, case studies, and initiatives available to practitioners working with adults age 50+ living in the community with priority to those aging in place.

The 7th annual symposium will feature leaders in the field who are successfully partnering across sectors to provide equity-focused solutions to improve older adult mental health. The symposium was designed to address some of the most important issues facing our society today and to identify solutions for a path forward.

At the end of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

Share new initiatives, strategies, promising practices as well as the perspective of older adults to improve access, eliminate discrimination, and increase collaboration in the field of older adult mental health.

Increase awareness about the role that health inequities play in the care and treatment of older adult mental health and substance use disorders and identify culturally-appropriate approaches to reduce their impact, including social support and evidence-based interventions.

Provide attendees with actionable steps they can bring back to their communities.

Identify policy solutions to address inequities and access barriers in older adult mental health.
